We are seeking an experienced construction professional to lead estimating and project management for commercial and industrial concrete work. This position combines preconstruction, client development, and project execution, with responsibility for taking opportunities from initial pursuit and pricing through construction and closeout.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead estimating and project management for complex commercial and industrial concrete projects
- Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs, pricing, labor projections, and project budgets
- Review plans, specifications, and site conditions to develop appropriate construction approaches
- Evaluate bid opportunities based on scope, schedule, client relationships, competition, and probability of award
- Participate in client development, sales efforts, and pursuit of new project opportunities
- Build and maintain relationships with general contractors, owners, subcontractors, suppliers, and other project partners
- Review contracts and project documents to confirm scope, responsibilities, and commercial requirements
- Coordinate project turnover from estimating into operations
- Partner with field leadership to establish manpower plans, sequencing, schedules, and production expectations
- Manage project budgets, cost reporting, forecasting, and overall financial performance
- Monitor labor productivity, material usage, and concrete yields throughout construction
- Manage subcontractor and supplier coordination
- Oversee submittals, documentation, change management, and contract compliance
- Develop and price change orders in a timely manner
- Support monthly billing and ensure accurate coding of project-related invoices and expenses
- Conduct site visits and preconstruction assessments as needed
- Maintain organized estimating and project documentation
- Lead multiple projects and pursuits simultaneously while maintaining schedule, quality, and financial objectives
- Mentor and provide direction to junior project management and estimating staff
Qualifications
- 8+ years of construction estimating and project management experience, preferably within commercial or industrial concrete
- Strong understanding of concrete construction means, methods, sequencing, labor, and materials
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents
- Demonstrated experience developing estimates, takeoffs, budgets, and project forecasts
- Strong financial understanding with the ability to manage project costs from preconstruction through completion
- Experience leading larger or technically complex projects
- Proven ability to develop lasting client and industry relationships
- Business development or construction sales experience is a plus
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with field and office teams
- Proficiency with construction estimating and project management technology, including takeoff software and Microsoft Excel
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Concrete Industry Management, or a related discipline preferred
